Privacy Policy

What Gage collects, why, who sees it, and how to have it corrected or deleted.

Last updated 24 September 2026.

This policy covers buildwithgage.com, the Gage estimator on fabricators' websites, the Gage MCP server that AI assistants connect to, and the emails we send. It explains what Gage Technologies ("Gage", "we") collects about you, why, who sees it, and what you can ask us to do with it.

#What we collect

What you give us

  • Contact details: your name, email address, and, if you give them, a phone number and company.
  • Your project: the building's location (at least a ZIP code), size, storeys, roof and other details, and any drawings, plan sets or 3D models you upload.
  • Messages you send to a fabricator through your project page.
  • Accounts: if you sign in, your email address and password. Passwords are stored by our sign-in provider as a one-way hash; we never see them.
  • Fabricators: your business details, facility address and photo, equipment, and rates. Your card is held by Stripe, our payment processor; Gage never sees or stores the card number.
  • Partners using the Gage API: your account details, and the details of your own customers that you send us.

Through an AI assistant

If you use Gage from Claude, ChatGPT or another AI assistant, we receive only what the assistant sends to our tools: a description of the building (size, storeys, roof, ZIP, or its walls and openings), and, if you agree to start a project, your name, email address and, if you give it, a phone number. We do not receive the rest of your conversation. The assistant's provider handles your conversation under its own privacy policy.

Automatically

  • Our hosting provider keeps standard connection logs, such as IP address, browser type and the page requested.
  • We use your IP address briefly to limit how often the same connection can request quotes, to stop abuse. For that purpose it is held as a scrambled (hashed) value, in memory only.
  • We set cookies only to keep you signed in. We use no advertising cookies and no third-party analytics or tracking.

#How we use it

  • To price your building and match it with the fabricators nearest the site.
  • To run your project: sharing it with your fabricator, keeping its page up to date, and sending you emails about it.
  • To take fabricators' fees and subscriptions.
  • To answer you when you contact us.
  • To keep Gage secure and prevent fraud and abuse.
  • To improve our pricing. We compare quotes with what jobs actually cost; the data used for that has customer and partner identities removed.
  • To meet legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.

#Who sees it

  • Fabricators. The fabricators who may take your job see your project's details, so they can price it. The fabricator you go ahead with also sees your contact details, once it has confirmed the job.
  • Partners. If you came to Gage through one of our partners (a company that uses Gage to quote its own customers), that partner sees your project and its status.
  • Our service providers, who handle data for us and only as we instruct:
    • Vercel, which hosts the site;
    • Supabase, which runs our database, sign-in and file storage;
    • Resend, which sends our emails;
    • Stripe, which handles fabricators' payments;
    • Anthropic, whose AI models read uploaded drawings and plan sets to measure the building;
    • Mapbox, whose maps appear on some pages. Your browser loads those maps from Mapbox directly.
  • The law. We disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect people's safety or our rights.
  • A new owner. If Gage is sold or merged, your information goes with the business, under this policy.

#How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account or project is active, and afterwards for as long as we need it for records, disputes and legal obligations. Plan files sent through the Gage API are deleted once they have been read. You can ask us to delete your information at any time (see below).

#Your choices and rights

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what we hold about you and send you a copy;
  • correct it;
  • delete it, unless we have to keep it for a legal reason or for a job still under way;
  • stop sending you emails that are not about a project you have with us.

Depending on where you live, for example California, Virginia, Colorado or Utah, the law may give you further rights, and you can use them the same way. Email support@buildwithgage.com. We will confirm the request came from you, answer within 30 days, and never treat you differently for asking.

#Security

We encrypt data in transit, limit who inside Gage can reach it, and keep keys and passwords out of our code. No system is perfectly secure, so if we learn that your information has been exposed, we will tell you as the law requires.

#Children

Gage is for adults planning construction projects. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

#Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we will say so on the site or email you before it takes effect.
