Terms of Use

The terms for anyone using Gage to price or build a project, on the site, through a fabricator's estimator, or from an AI assistant.

Last updated 24 September 2026.

These terms apply when you use Gage to price or build a project: on buildwithgage.com, through the Gage estimator on a fabricator's website, or from an AI assistant connected to the Gage MCP server. By using Gage, you agree to them. Fabricators and partners have their own agreements with Gage, and partners using the API are also bound by the API Terms of Service. How we handle your information is in the Privacy Policy.

"Gage", "we" and "us" means Gage Technologies. "You" means the person using Gage, or the business they act for.

#1. What Gage is

Gage is a marketplace for cold-formed steel framing. We price your building with fabricators near your site, connect you with the one you choose, and keep the project, its messages and its status in one place.

Fabricators are independent businesses. Gage does not fabricate, engineer, deliver or install anything. Your agreement to have a frame made is with the fabricator, and they are responsible for their work, their schedule and their final price.

Using Gage to get quotes and run your project costs you nothing. Fabricators pay Gage a fee.

#2. Estimates and quotes

  • Estimates are preliminary. An estimate or quick quote from Gage is worked out from the information you give it: drawings, a model, or a description. It is not a firm price, an engineered design, or an offer to sell. The fabricator sets the final price after reviewing your drawings.
  • They cover the steel frame package only: framing steel, engineering for the frame, and delivery, as itemized. They do not cover the foundation, finishes, labour on site, permits, or anything else, unless a quote says so.
  • Anything assumed is stated. When Gage has to assume something (a ceiling height, a roof pitch, the number of windows), it says so. Check those assumptions before relying on a number.
  • Quotes expire. Each quote says how long it is valid.
  • Nothing Gage produces is stamped. No model, drawing, takeoff or panel count from Gage is sufficient for a permit or for construction. Stamped drawings come from the fabricator's engineer of record.

#3. Approving a quote, and changing your mind

Approving a fabricator's final quote is your commitment to go ahead with that fabricator at that price. When you approve, you give your name, agree to these terms, and confirm that you intend to proceed; the fabricator then confirms the job and contacts you to arrange a deposit and a schedule.

If your plans change, cancel from your project page before production starts. There is no charge to you. Once production has started, cancelling is between you and the fabricator, under whatever you agreed with them. If a fabricator tells us you are not going ahead, we will ask you to confirm on your project page; if you do not answer within 7 days, the project is closed.

#4. Your project page

When you start a project, we email you a private link to its page. Anyone with the link can open the project, so keep it to yourself and the people working on the job with you. If you think the link has leaked, tell us and we will issue a new one.

#5. Your drawings and information

What you upload or tell us stays yours. You allow Gage to use it to price and run your project: to read and measure your drawings, share them with fabricators, and keep a record of the job. You also allow us to use job data, with your identity removed, to improve our pricing.

You confirm that you have the right to share what you upload. You may not upload drawings you have no right to use.

#6. Using Gage from an AI assistant

When you ask an assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT to price or start a project with Gage, the assistant sends our tools what it needs, and we act on what they receive. The assistant is not part of Gage, and its provider's terms apply to your conversation with it.

A project is started only after you agree to share your name and email address. The link to it is sent to that email address, never shown in the chat. Check what the assistant tells you against the quote on your project page: the project page is the record.

#7. Working with a fabricator Gage introduced

The fabricator's name appears once it has taken your job. Building through Gage is what keeps the shop accountable to your project, your messages and your record in one place. If a fabricator Gage introduced you to offers to handle the same project outside Gage, please tell us.

#8. Acceptable use

Do not:

  • give false information about yourself or your project, or start projects you do not intend to pursue;
  • try to find out which fabricator is behind a regional name before Gage shows it, or scrape prices from Gage;
  • interfere with Gage, test its security without our written permission, or get around its limits;
  • use Gage for anything unlawful.

We may suspend access that breaks these terms.

#9. Disclaimers

Gage is provided "as is". We work to make estimates, measurements and matches accurate, but we do not guarantee that they are complete or error-free, that a fabricator will take your job, or that Gage will always be available. We are not responsible for a fabricator's work, delays, pricing or conduct. Nothing on Gage is engineering, legal or financial advice.

#10. Limits on our liability

As far as the law allows, Gage is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for lost profits, arising from your use of Gage. Our total liability to you for any claim about Gage is limited to US $100. Some places do not allow some of these limits; where they do not, they apply only as far as the law permits.

#11. General

  • Changes. We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the current version. If a change is significant, we will say so on the site or email you before it takes effect. Using Gage after that means you accept the new terms.
  • Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah. The state and federal courts located in Salt Lake County, Utah have exclusive jurisdiction, except where the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim there.
  • Whole agreement. These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and Gage about using Gage. If a part of them cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
